Restorative Charter School
Favor Transition Academy is an innovative and responsive school concept designed to support students who display patterns of disengagement (through exclusionary factors that include chronic absenteeism, suspension, expulsion, patterns of violence/discipline, Juvenile Justice engaged, credit deficient, behavioral disorders, etc.) in a restorative setting. FTA believes mental wellness is the foundation for sustained academic success. FTA is a traditional small school, specially designed to respond to student emotional, mental, academic, and social needs. The school offers a safe space for students (often deemed “at-risk”) to develop their academic and behavioral skills in a learning environment that prioritizes mental wellness and restoration in its core operations.

Favor Transition Academy offers an innovative cross-system strategy to improve educational and social emotional outcomes for students. The school design embeds Restorative Practices through SEL focused lessons into our instructional and operational processes. The FTA 3-Prong Approach developed by Dr. Angela Coaxum-Young, commits to whole child development through Mental Wellness Support (mindful strategies/techniques, dialectical therapy, and restorative systems), Academic Innovation, and Post-Secondary Preparation we believe the outcome of the initiatives will serve several purposes:
