RLM is grounded in Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and interweaves tenets of Project Based Learning into its process. RLM integrates SEL standards into content curriculum to enhance mastery. RLM strengthens critical thinking skills, as it dually explores outcomes(solutions) and repercussion of the outcomes.
To ensure FTA students graduate ready to not only impact the world through their knowledge, skill, expertise and heightened standard of equity, Dr. Coaxum-Young developed the Restorative Learning Model (2022) to better equip students with the necessary tools to shape healthy work, social and educational environments.
FTA's Social Emotional Learning standards are designed for students exhibiting patterns of violence, trauma and/or disengagement. The standards recall, restore and reteach positive habits using CASEL domains: Self-Awareness, Self-Management; Social Awareness; Relationship Skills and Responsible Decisions
