Favor Transition Academy is a tuition-free public charter school serving grades 9-12.
Favor Transition Academy will be a school open to all students that meet enrollment zone criteria in accordance with state guidelines, the school will offer special programming to meet the needs of a targeted/specific group of students classified as Educationally Disengaged.
We appreciate the overwhelming community input and interest to bring our. restorative charter school model to your area. The FTA planning team considered 5 areas and have submitted proposals to open in the top two areas identified through community feedback: Clayton and Gwinnett/Rockdale. Students exhibiting patterns of:
·Chronic absenteeism (absent more than 10% of the prior school year enrollment)
·In School/Out of School Suspension (Exceeding 10 or more days)
·DJJ engaged (Previously or Currently engaged/referred to the Department of Juvenile Justice)
·Previously expelled (Students may not enroll during the expulsion period, they may only enroll at the conclusion of the expulsion period).
·Credit deficient (Off Track for Graduation by 6 or more credit hours)
·Behavioral disorders (As documented through IEP Eligibility, Psychological/Clinical Evaluation)
The FTA team will begin offering community engagement sessions for interested students in January of 2023. Families will be able to participate in learning sessions online or in person at several designated areas. Be sure to visit the community events page to learn more about upcoming engagement sessions. Application timelines and procedures will be discussed during those sessions and updated online by the Fall of 2023.
